  How To . . .
  What is "arbitration"?
Arbitration is a process whereby contending parties agree voluntarily to submit a dispute to a neutral party for decision and agree to comply with the decision. Arbitration can be binding or non-binding based upon party requests or contract requirements.
  What is "mediation"?
Mediation is a process where parties to a dispute talk in a controlled setting about the issues that they are contesting, and, with the help of a trained Mediator, attempt to reach an agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved in the dispute. It differs from other forms of resolution in that there is no settlement unless there is an agreement reached between the parties.
